Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $685. (est. as of 6/8/26) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Ringo is one handsome guy! With his one spotted ear and one brown ear Ringo is a real attention getter. We're not sure about his drumming abilities but after running around and playing he would like to cuddle with you and maybe listen to a Beatles song or two. He has been a good boy in his foster home and is comfortable in his crate for up to 5 hours. He has gotten along with the cats and dogs he lives with and has met new dog and kitty friends and done well so far. He also loves to meet new people and gets along with everyone in his foster home - kids and adults. He is not overly vocal but may bark when he is playing and having fun. He uses regular bitey mouth play with his doggy friends, is a fan of playgroup, chew toys and enjoys a car ride. Ringo is working on his leash walking and may pull some. He is also working on his housetraining and has had no accidents so far. He is such a smart boy! As with any young pup he would benefit from some skills training. Ringo may want to help you landscape and has been known to dig a hole or two. He also may want to help you take out the trash with or without your help and has been known to raid a garbage can to see what he can find. So many interesting smells for a young pup! Ringo may do well in a fenced yard since he's a curious fellow and there's a slight chance his eagerness may entice him to get out to see the world. We don't know much about Ringo's back story, just that he was found as a stray by someone who contacted one of our partner rescues in the South. That person had fostered before and took Ringo in to foster him until he could find his forever home and family. He has been a great house guest and he sounds like the perfect band mate to add to your pack! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
