Description
Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Pickle is an adorable ~2-month-old male puppy with a striking mix of black, brown, and white. He's a true "supermutt," so his exact breed (and final size) is a bit of a mystery - though he’ll likely grow to around 30 pounds. Currently living in a foster home with two young kids and a senior dog, Pickle is thriving in a family environment. He absolutely loves people of all ages and spends his days happily chasing after the kids, playing with toys, and squeezing in plenty of cozy naps. Pickle is doing great learning puppy basics. He's making steady progress with potty training and is figuring out that toys - not shoes - are the best things to chew. He sleeps well in his crate as long as he knows someone is nearby, which is very normal for a pup his age. This little guy is full of joy and curiosity. He loves meeting new people, enjoys his walks, and is always ready for playtime or snuggles. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion to grow up with your family, Pickle might just be the perfect match! To meet Pickle, please complete an application at caws/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. Pickle's adopter will be required to complete his puppy vaccinations and take Pickle to his scheduled neuter appointment. CAWS will cover the cost of the remaining vaccinations and surgery. His adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at caws/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
