Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. About Me Jasmin is a bright, energetic 7monthold Kelpie/Shepherd mix who came up from Texas and is settling beautifully into indoor life. She’s currently about 35 pounds and is expected to stay a medium-sized dog as an adult — Kelpies typically reach around 35–40 pounds — making her a great fit for adopters who love shepherd traits without shepherd size. She’s an exceptionally smart little girl with excellent leash manners, a curious mind, and a playful spirit. Squirrels and frogs are her favorite things to observe, and she’s always ready for a walk or a car ride. Jasmin has already mastered sit, loves ball tosses, and is working on bringing the ball back. She is fully crate trainedand house trained, and she sleeps through the night without a peep — she happily goes into her crate at bedtime and snoozes until morning. Like many herdingbreed puppies, Jasmin is still learning polite boundaries. She can be mouthy and jumpy when excited, and her foster is actively working on impulse control and calmer greetings. Because of this, she would do best in a home without small children. Jasmin thrives with activity and would love a family who enjoys walks, playtime, and mental enrichment. She would also be thrilled to have a confident adult dog to play with and learn from. She’s a clever, affectionate girl who is coming along beautifully and will make a wonderful companion for an active home. WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
