Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Chihuahua. Hi there, I'm Maxwell! I love spending my days playing with my friends here and sharing smiles with everyone I meet. I'm known for my sweet nature and friendly greetings. I'm always ready for a game or a quiet cuddle, whichever you prefer. I dream of finding a forever home where I can share all the love I have. Adopting me means gaining a loyal friend who will always be there to cheer you up and make your days brighter! Special Needs: Since I am unable to hold a toothbrush or floss my teeth, I had some dental issues. My friends at the SPCA have helped me with dental work, but I will likely need more in the future. I had a couple of small skin lumps that were removed, and I'm healing well! My stitches should dissolve on their own over the next few weeks. Since some dogs can develop new skin lumps over time, my future family should keep an eye on my skin and have any new bumps checked by their veterinarian. The nice folks at the SPCA can tell you all about me and my history.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
