Josie is a beautiful, active pup with a playful spirit and a heart full of loyalty. She has a gentle and affectionate nature, making her a wonderful companion for families, including those with children, as well as individuals. Josie is well-mannered and highly trainableâshe walks excellently on a leash, knows basic commands like sit and down, and even comes when called or whistled to. She is crate, house, and potty trained, and will let you know when she needs a bathroom break by walking in circles and staring at you. Josie loves her chew bones and tennis balls, and she enjoys curling up on the bed or couch for some cozy rest. Though Josie can be a bit shy and scared at first, she is curious and easily redirected with treats and affection. She is talkative and playful, and she gets along wonderfully with men, women, kids, cats, and other dogsâboth male and female. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
