Description
Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianepluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. young sato seeking happily ever after! FREDERICK NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Frederick Best Guess for Breed: Australian shepherd and lab mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of July 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 25 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here. Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Frederick is Looking For: His forever home! Frederick is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. He is in his prime as a young dog and hasn't seen enough of the world - he's eager to get his own humans for sniffy walks and romps in parks and all the adventures his family can dream up. Making pup pals along the way would be great, as would going to dog school so he can show how super smart he is. Most of all, though, he wants to know where he belongs, to be safe and loved all his days. In exchange he promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Can you see him by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has spent time in foster care. Heartworm information: Fredrick is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. Breed overview
Overview:
The Aussiedor is a hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Labrador Retriever, emerging as a modern companion in North America’s designer-dog movement. Medium to large in size, they typically weigh 40–80 pounds with an athletic build and a double coat that can be short to medium-length, shedding seasonally. Their temperament blends the Lab’s friendliness with the Aussie’s alert intelligence: highly trainable, eager to please, and very energetic. Aussiedors thrive with active families, enjoying hikes, runs, and interactive play, but they are less suited to apartment living unless given ample daily exercise and mental stimulation. Regular grooming helps manage shedding. Notable health considerations include hip dysplasia, eye conditions, and weight management, with a typical lifespan of 10–13 years. Consistent training, enrichment, and preventive veterinary care keep this versatile cross at its best.
