Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). #A5783074 Blue is a 4-year-old neutered male Siberian Husky with a gorgeous gray and white coat and stunning heterochromia—one blue eye and one brown eye At 56 lbs, Blue came in as a stray on June 13 and is looking for an active home that understands the Husky lifestyle. He's a little reserved with new people but warms up with patience. Blue knows "sit," gets excited on leash, and loves to explore. He's calm around other dogs, but a home without cats is best. Like any Husky, Blue will thrive with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and a secure yard. He has some hair loss on his ears and rear, but with a little TLC, this handsome boy will be ready for his next adventure. -4 years old, neutered male, 56 lbs -Siberian Husky, gray and white coat -One blue eye, one brown eye -Good with dogs; no cats -Active, curious, and adventurous -Knows "sit," pulls on leash -Ready for an active forever home BLUE’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/6jml3Rl3DWY For more information, contact volunteer Lor at lorunitedhopeforanimals Photo Credit wugrapher Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
