Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). #A5782336 Luna is a 10-month-old spayed female Siberian Husky with a gorgeous gray and white coat, one striking blue eye, and one beautiful golden eye Weighing 43 lbs, Luna was surrendered by her owner on June 10 with no explanation, and now she's looking for the forever family she deserves. Still very much a puppy, Luna is sweet, curious, and independent with that classic Husky sense of adventure. She walks nicely on leash, may already know "sit," and would make an amazing hiking or exercise buddy. She's currently being treated for a mild upper respiratory infection, but that hasn't slowed her down—she's still eager to explore and find her people. -10 months old, spayed female, 43 lbs -Siberian Husky, gray and white -One blue eye, one golden eye -Owner surrender on 06/10/2026 -Sweet, curious, and adventurous -Walks well on leash -May know "sit" -Being treated for a mild URI -Ready for her forever home LUNA’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/WcGyT08epqw For more information, contact volunteer Lisa at lisaaunitedhopeforanimals Photo Credit wugrapher ---- Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
