Description
Dog Breed: Beagle. Palmer is one of our special Ridglan Farms Beagles who recently got a second chance after spending the first year of his life in a commercial breeding and research facility. Now, he's discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer—soft beds, tasty treats, toys, and, most importantly, the love and security of a family. About Me Meet Palmer, a young beagle with a heart full of love and a nose that never quits! Palmer is the ultimate greeter—he’ll be at the window, tail wagging and body wiggling, the moment you pull into the driveway. He’s happiest when he’s with his people and his dog friends, whether he’s snuggled up for a nap (head on your pillow, of course) or out exploring the world on a walk. Palmer thrives in the company of other dogs and would love a home with at least one furry sibling to play and cuddle with. He’s gentle and friendly with children, making him a wonderful family companion. His favorite things include sunshine, outdoor adventures, and anything involving food—his beagle nose is always on the hunt for tasty treats! He’s still working on his potty training and learning new things every day, but he’s eager to please and has already come so far since arriving in foster care. Palmer sleeps soundly with the pack at night and is a dream passenger in the car. If you’re looking for a sweet, social pup who will fill your days with joy, snuggles, and a little bit of beagle mischief, Palmer is ready to meet you. Apply today to welcome this little gem into your family! Helpful Information from Palmer's Foster: Palmer is a little gem He loves my pack of dogs and would do best in a home with at least another furry friend for him to hang with. He has come out of his shell completely and learns something new everyday. He loves food & has a hound nose. He sleeps with us at night and curls right in next to the rest of his pals. He is in heaven when he’s outside. NOTE: Please see the special information pertaining to these research beagles on our website here: .rescuecrew/beagles. Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
