Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed. Available for Adoption – Meet Gretel! Gretel is a sweet, gentle little girl whose biggest wish is to love and be loved. She was originally found as a stray and had clearly experienced neglect. At first, she wasn't sure what to think about affection, cuddles, or even kisses. It was heartbreaking to see a dog so unsure of kindness. Today, Gretel is a completely different girl. She has blossomed into a happy, loving companion who adores curling up in your lap and showering you with the sweetest kisses. Watching her learn to trust and embrace love has been truly rewarding. Gretel is well-mannered, obedient, easygoing, and incredibly well behaved. She is the kind of dog who is simply a joy to have by your side. She is crate trained, potty trained in her foster home, and gets along wonderfully with children, cats, and other dogs. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and so much love to give, Gretel may be the perfect addition to your family. She's ready to leave her past behind and begin the happy, forever life she deserves. Could Gretel be the missing piece to your family? She has had 2 vet visits, is spayed, Microchipped, UTD on all vaccinations, had a 4 DX test (testing for Lyme disease and two types of tick-borne illnesses), flea/tick/heartworm prevention (Nexgard Plus), 2 dewormings, and a fecal test. Adopters will receive all original paperwork, a 14-day health guarantee, a collar, harness, leash, seatbelt lock, and a week's worth of food. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are by appointment only. We are located in Mesa, AZ., near Gilbert/Brown & offer flexible hours 7 days/week. Private message if interested!

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
