Description
Dog Breed: West Highland White Terrier Westie / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $350. Hi everyone, it’s me, Winston. If this is the first time you’re seeing my handsome photo, let me tell you a bit about myself and what I’m looking for in my forever home. I am a 7 -8 year-old 24 pound Westie mix. I am mostly blind due to cataracts, but I don’t let that stop me. Now, you’re probably asking can I have surgery? The rescue isn’t able to provide that at this time without sponsorship. I’m also house and crate-trained and UTD on my vaccinations. Here’s what I’m looking for in my furever family: Patience to give me the time I need to settle in. It’s going to take me time to get used to my new surroundings. A family willing to commit to taking the time to understand my special needs. I promise I’ll be worth it. A quieter home as I react to being startled due to my vision. I’m not a good fit for young children. I like to go on walks and do well in the car. A comfy sofa to lay my head. I’m dog friendly, but I prefer calm companions. I don’t want puppies in my face. I don’t know if I like cats. I’m not a fan of hard floors. My foster mom has been so thoughtful and put area carpets down to make me more comfortable getting around the house. If you think we’d be a good fit I would love to meet you. Fostered in Westminster, MD Apply: .pack9rescue/applications/ LIC #9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at .pack9rescue. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs. Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
