Dog Breed: Poodle (unknown type). Whenever I hear the name Rolo, I think of chocolate covered caramel and pure sweetness. This boy named Rolo, unfortunately, came to us severely matted and quite skinny, obviously he had been neglected in his former life. Heâs about 4 years old and presently weighs 55 to 60 pounds. Heâs playful, curious, energetic, and very happy. (Although heâs dog friendly, he needs to be fed separately from any other pets in the family.) Heâs crate trained, too! A real sweetie! In fact, heâs turned into chocolate covered caramel! A true Rolo! Yum! (posted 7/8/26, ME) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $170.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
