Sandi – Yellow Female, 3 years old, 56 lbs Sandi is a beautiful young dog with the perfect balance of playful energy and a sweet, easy going personality. She was originally adopted from LRRF as a 6-month-old puppy and has been a wonderful, devoted companion. Due to unforeseen health challenges, her previous owner made the difficult decision to return her to LRRF so she can find another loving forever home. True to her Labrador roots, Sandi is enthusiastic, athletic, and always ready for an adventure—but she also knows when it's time to settle down and relax with her people. Some of Sandi's favorite activities include: Chasing tennis balls with her Chuckit! Running, walking, and hiking Trips to the beach, especially splashing through the tide and racing along the wet sand Joining her family at dog-friendly restaurants, wineries/breweries, and home improvement stores where she is calm and well behaved Solving dog puzzles and playing enrichment games that keep her busy and engaged Sandi is not only fun—she's incredibly smart and well trained. Her previous owner invested a great deal of time in her training, and it shows. She knows commands including sit, down, settle, leave it, drop it, come, heel, easy, wait, watch me, shake, and many more. Her training helps channel her youthful Lab energy into excellent manners, making her a joy to have around. Sandi loves spending time with her people and gets along well with dogs of all shapes and sizes. She is also friendly with children, though she would do best with kids 5 years and older since her excitement and enthusiasm can occasionally be a bit much for very young children. Cats are unknown. If you're looking for a loyal, active, well-mannered companion who is ready for adventures, beach days, and cozy evenings at home, Sandi may be the perfect addition to your family. Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
