Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Bluey is a dream girl! Affectionate, curious, adorable, and soft, she is everything you look for in a dog! Bluey came to PAW from South Carolina and she is loving her adventure here in Maryland! On walks, she is easy on leash (unless she spies a fellow canine, then she want to say hellooo!), enjoys taking time to listen to the cars and people going by, and LOVES sniffing all the new smells of the neighborhood! At 35 pounds and three-years old, Bluey is a great size. She has shorter legs and a longer body, but those legs can go, so she would make a great hiking partner! Bluey is a sweet young lady who loves to get pets and ear rubs and she loves to give hugs and kisses in return! Bluey is new to PAW and we will update her profile as we kwarn more about this young southern gal! PAW adopts in the Maryland, DC, northern VA, and southern PA region.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
