Description

Dog Breed: Bichon Frise (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $200. Meet Harlan! Harlan is a handsome 8-year-old registered Bichon Frise who is looking for a loving new home through no fault of his own. His owner dearly loves him but is no longer physically able to provide the care he deserves and will soon be moving into a senior apartment. Harlan is current on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative, regularly groomed, and recently had a clean bill of health at his annual veterinary checkup. He also has a transferable Banfield Wellness Plan for his new family. While Harlan can be a little cautious when meeting new people, once he gets to know you, he quickly becomes an affectionate, loyal little love bug. He is wonderful with children, gets along well with other dogs, and is very sociable. Harlan is fully potty trained, lets you know when he needs to go outside by barking at the door, and can comfortably make it through the night without needing a potty break. He is also content staying home during the day while his family is at work. He has never been crate trained because he has never needed one and happily sleeps in his own bed each night. He’s a little overweight at the moment, likely because he hasn’t been getting his usual twice-daily walks for over a year, but with regular exercise and a healthy routine, he should slim down nicely. Harlan’s owner is able to continue caring for him until the right family is found. Her greatest wish is simply to find him the loving, forever home he deserves. If you think Harlan could be the perfect addition to your family, please contact Allie’s Haven Animal Rescue to learn more.

Bichon Frise

A.K.A.: Tenerife dog, Tenerife, Bichon Tenerife, Canary Island Bichon, Bichon a Poil Frise, Bichon à Poil Frisé
Overview:

The Bichon Frise is a charming and vivacious small dog breed, often described as a "little white puffball." Originating in the Mediterranean, they were historically popular among European nobility. Physically, Bichons are characterized by their soft, curly, double coat of pure white fur, dark, expressive eyes, and a plumed tail carried over their back. Their temperament is generally affectionate, playful, and cheerful, making them excellent companions. They are known for being very sociable and thrive on human interaction, often getting along well with children and other pets, making them a superb choice for families and first-time dog owners. Due to their relatively small size and moderate exercise needs, they are also highly adaptable to apartment living, provided they receive regular walks and playtime. While generally robust, Bichons can be prone to certain health issues, including dental disease, patellar luxation, and allergies, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and veterinary care.
