Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. Hi! I’m Guss II. The rescue thinks I’m about two years old. Although eighty pounds, I like to think I’m a lap dog and lay on foster mom’s chest. I think it might be best that there are not tiny little humans in the house. I sometimes forget my size and jump when excited. I get along well with the other two dogs in the house. Although they are half my size, I still love to play with them. I’m not sure about cats. For fun, I love car rides and playing in the backyard. I am housetrained but do not like the crate or going on walks. My foster mom takes me and all I want to do is go back home. When I am left alone, I do not get in trouble, just curl up and sleep. I am not food aggressive and do not resource guard. I sleep on the bed if I am invited otherwise curl up on the floor. I sleep on my bed when my foster mom works. I use the doggy door but am supervised. I do not bark at the dogs next door even though they bark at me. I do not dig or try to escape. I am a lovable goofball excited to find my new home. A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
