Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Meet Roy, a sweet and gentle 1.7-year-old male Pit Bull looking for his forever home! Roy is a calm and shy boy who thrives on affection and treats, making him highly motivated and easy to redirect. He responds well to basic commands and comes when called, showing his eagerness to please. Roy is excellent with potty training and enjoys human interaction, especially with women. While he is still learning to walk on a leash and would benefit from some training in this area, his adaptable energy level means he can fit well into a variety of home environments. This hesitant but loving boy would do best in a patient and understanding home where he can continue to build confidence and feel safe. If youâre looking for a calm, treat-loving companion who will reward your kindness with loyalty and affection, Roy might just be the perfect match for you! Come meet Roy and give this deserving pup the loving home he deserves. City of Tulsa Animal Welfare Tuesday through Friday, noon to 6pm Saturday, noon to 4pm 918-669-6280

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
