Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Sweet senior Casey is a 10-year-old little cutie who is ready to spend her golden years surrounded by love, patience, and comfort. This gentle girl has already come so far and is showing everyone just how resilient and special she truly is. Casey is housebroken, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. She gets along well with other dogs and is comfortable sharing her space with both big and small canine friends. While she may not be the first one to jump into playtime, she enjoys having doggy companions around and has shown no signs of aggression. Casey is a very sweet girl who can be a little skittish as she learns that she is safe. Loud noises, fast movements, and unexpected changes can startle her, so she will do best with a calm, patient family who will allow her to continue gaining confidence at her own pace. Casey came to rescue with her daughter, CeCe, after spending much of her life in less-than-ideal conditions. She was kept in a pool house and was only fed human food, but this amazing little girl has adapted beautifully to a normal routine and is now happily eating dog food. Her progress has been incredible to watch! Her foster family has already seen so much growth. Casey recently gave her first tail wag, and she is becoming more comfortable with affection and physical touch. She enjoys human companionship and loves being near her people. While she is still unsure about being picked up, she is learning that gentle love and attention can be wonderful. Casey has also made great strides with her crate. In the beginning, she would cry briefly before settling down, but now she walks into her crate without fuss and relaxes much more easily. She is quiet, only barking once when her foster dogs were barking, and she has adjusted wonderfully to life in a home. This sweet girl is looking for a family who will cherish her, celebrate her progress, and give her the patience she deserves. She may be a senior, but Casey has so much love left to give and is ready to show her forever family what a special companion she can be. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
