Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Sweet Ladybug is a 6–7-month-old Black Mouth Cur mix who weighs about 18 pounds and is looking for the forever family she's been waiting for. She came to CAWS severely underweight after spending more than 100 days — over half of her young life — in an open-air shelter where her future was uncertain. Since arriving in foster care, Ladybug has blossomed. She's healthy, happy, and discovering just how wonderful life can be. She absolutely loves people and soaks up every bit of affection, but she's wonderfully gentle about it. More than anything, she's happiest simply being by your side. Ladybug is house-trained, and gets along great with both people and other dogs. She's a sweet, easygoing puppy with so much love to give, and she's more than ready to trade foster care for a family to call her own. If you think Ladybug could be the perfect addition to your family, please complete an application at caws/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Ladybug's adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at caws/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
