Dog Breed: Beagle. Looking for a little dog with a big personality? Meet Delbert! This adorable little guy is equal parts spunky, sweet, and downright irresistible. His whole body wiggles with excitement whenever he sees his favorite people, and his joyful spirit is guaranteed to make you smile. Delbert is a curious little explorer who loves discovering new things, playing with toys, and making friends wherever he goes. He's always up for an adventure, but he's just as happy to trade playtime for cuddle time. This affectionate little cuddle bug loves being close to his people and is happiest when he's snuggled up by your side. With his charming personality, lovable nature, and endless supply of wiggles, Delbert is ready to bring laughter, love, and companionship to his forever home. All PAWS cats and dogs are current on the vaccinations appropriate for their age. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm disease. Cats/kittens are tested (and are negative) for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. Overview:
The Beagle is a beloved scent hound with a rich history, originally bred in England for hunting hare and rabbit. Their most recognizable physical traits include a sturdy, compact build, adorable floppy ears, and soulful brown or hazel eyes. Beagles typically weigh between 18-30 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall, featuring a smooth, dense coat that comes in a variety of tri-color or bi-color patterns. In terms of temperament, they are known for being exceptionally friendly, curious, and outgoing, making them wonderful companions for families with children and other pets. However, their strong prey drive and inclination to follow interesting scents mean they require a securely fenced yard and consistent leash training. While adaptable, their need for exercise and tendency to vocalize (howl!) makes them less ideal for small apartment living unless daily walks and mental stimulation are guaranteed. Regarding health, Beagles can be prone to certain conditions like hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and intervertebral disc disease, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups important.
