Description
Dog Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed. Scooby is a 4-year old shadow who believes there is no reason you should ever be in a room without him. If you get up, he gets up. If you're working, he's nearby. If you're on the couch, he'll happily join you for a nap. Scooby is affectionate, funny, easy to have around the house, and happiest when he's simply with his people. He's low to medium energy and is on a weight loss journey after spending much of his life living a pretty sedentary lifestyle. He's discovering that exercise is actually fun, walks beautifully on a leash, and is getting healthier every day. His favorite hobbies are watching for squirrels, snuggling on the couch, taking long naps, and snoring loudly enough to make everyone laugh. Scooby is also wonderfully goofy. His attempts to play with a tennis ball are equal parts determined and awkward, and it's impossible not to smile watching him try. Around the house, Scooby is about as easy as they come. He's potty trained, has excellent house manners, doesn't chew things he shouldn't, and is quiet unless someone knocks on the door. He does well with kids and settles into a routine almost immediately. Scooby gets along well with other dogs. He was good in a daycare environment, has done great with the golden retriever in his foster home, and could happily live with another easygoing dog or be perfectly content as your one and only. Before coming into rescue, Scooby was attacked by another dog in his home and came to us so he could recover safely. He's fully healed, but because of that experience, he appreciates dogs that are respectful of his space until he gets comfortable with them. He'll thrive with someone who understands his past and helps him feel safe if things become chaotic or overwhelming. More than anything, Scooby is just an incredibly good dog. He's funny, affectionate, easy to live with, and happiest when he's near the people he loves. We think whoever adopts him is getting an exceptional dog. To meet Scooby, please complete an application at caws/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at caws/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
The Lab-Pointer, a charming crossbreed of the Labrador Retriever and Pointer, originated from the desire to combine the best qualities of both parent breeds. Physically, they are typically medium to large dogs, showcasing a athletic build, often with a short, dense coat in various colors like black, yellow, chocolate, or liver, and sometimes the distinctive Pointer markings. Their temperament is generally a delightful blend: intelligent, loyal, and eager to please like the Lab, combined with the Pointer's alert and energetic nature. This makes them highly trainable, though they do require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While affectionate and good with children, their energy levels mean they are best suited for active families with a yard, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from either parent, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups crucial for their well-being.
