Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. 7/16/2026 Cali III is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Cali III! I am a beautiful 12 year old fawn lady that is looking for my forever home! I am an owner surrender due to my family's rental home not allowing them to keep me. I am a proud member of the rescue's Silver Heart program so be sure and ask about it because there are many perks for my adoptive family! I am described as friendly, shy, active, smart, playful, affectionate, and nervous! It is said that I have lived with another dog and I get along great with them! I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. There are three children in my current home (ages 15-23 years) and I am good with them! I am house trained, crate trained, and sleep in a bedroom at night. If the humans must be away, I am good being left alone. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of loud sounds and fireworks. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, being loved on, and everyone! My current owner says I am "a sweet girl and the absolute best dog" and I agree! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and tell them you want to meet Silver Heart Cali III because I am waiting to meet you!

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
