If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Kiwi, an adorable Terrier X puppy with a bright future ahead! I was found as a stray by the City of Santa Paula / Animal Services division, but my luck is about to change for the better. I am a ball of energy and joy, always ready for a game or an adventure. I'm an outgoing pup with a heart as big as the sky, and I love exploring and making new friends. With my active nature, I'll be the perfect companion for a family with children aged 6 and up, keeping everyone entertained and on their toes! I know I'm cute and everyone will want me, but please be sure you're ready to take on a puppy as it's similar to having a newborn (2-legged kind) in the home. It's a lifetime commitment, not a temporary one where the love and attention wears off after I'm grown. I am a true survivor and an optimist at heart, and I'm hoping to find a family that will give me the love and care I deserve. I'm ready to leave my stray life behind and become your loyal companion. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
