Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Foster or forever home wanted, meet Wade or as the shelter volunteers know him, wonderful Wade! Yes it's true, even wonderful dogs are at risk in our overcrowded shelters with more dogs coming in than leaving. Nothing is more true if you happen to be there over the 4th of July holiday. Wade had entered the Kern County Animal Shelter back in mid June. Wade had no collar, tag or microchip to help identify him and hopefully reunite him with his family. The shelter kept him a lot longer than most because he was a great dog. Unfortunately, his time was up and when we caught wind he was at risk, we arranged to get him out of the shelter and move him south. Wade just came to us on July 18 so he is new to the rescue. He's in boarding for now so all we have is the accolades he got from the shelter staff and volunteers. He is super sweet, good with people and dogs, walks well on the leash.
