Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (long coat). Meet Lambeau! This adorable 2-year-old, 14-pound Yorkie mix is searching for his third and final family. Lambeau's current family found him through a Nextdoor post after he was rescued in rough shape. He was badly matted, frightened, and in need of some extra love. They immediately welcomed him into their home, got him professionally groomed, and gave him plenty of patience and TLC. Over the past year, Lambeau has blossomed into a happy, affectionate, and playful little guy. Unfortunately, despite everyone's best efforts, the resident dog has never fully accepted him, so Lambeau is now looking for a family where he can truly thrive. Lambeau loves to play and would do best with another friendly, energetic dog who can keep up with his enthusiasm. He also gets along well with cats. Because he gets so excited to greet people, he tends to jump and isn't the best fit for homes with toddlers or very young children. Like many small dogs, he may dribble a little urine when he's especially excited, but he is otherwise house-trained and crate-trained. Thunderstorms can make Lambeau a bit anxious, but a few extra cuddles (and maybe a ThunderShirt) help him feel safe. He loves routine, sits for treats, and enjoys spending time outside with his family when the weather is nice. Before adoption, Lambeau will be neutered and receive his annual vaccinations and a heartworm test. His $275 adoption fee also includes a microchip and a dose of heartworm prevention. If you think Lambeau could be the perfect addition to your family, please complete adoption application to be considered. Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
