Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Brownie! At just 9 months old and 30lbs, this adorable hound mix has all the fun and excitement of a puppy, but she's already off to a great start with house training and knows a few basic commands. She's eager to learn and loves making her people happy! Her forever family will just need to continue her routine, help her polish her manners, and work on crate training. Brownie absolutely adores people and other dogs. Whether she's playing in the yard, going for a walk, or curling up for cuddle time, she's happiest when she's with her family. She did show a little too much interest in the cat she met, so she'll be happiest in a home without cats. Like many young pups, Brownie can be a little nervous in new situations, but with patience, love, and consistency, her sweet personality shines through. She's a total sweetheart who loves to play, cuddle, and be by your side, and she's ready to become an incredible addition to a lucky family. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 7/25/26. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
