Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Rose â A Smart, Affectionate Girl Looking for Her Perfect Person Rose is a 1-year-old Pit Bull mix with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and so much love to give. She thrives on being close to her people and is happiest when sheâs included in everyday life. If youâre looking for a loyal companion who wants to be your shadow, Rose may be your perfect match. Rose is incredibly intelligent and loves to learn. Sheâs food motivated and already knows several tricks, including sit, shake, and spin. Sheâs even figured out how to open and close doors! She enjoys puzzle toys, training sessions, and anything that gives her mind something to do. When playtime rolls around, Rose is all in! She loves playing fetch, chasing tennis balls, tug-of-war with rope toys, and cooling off with homemade pup-sicles. Fresh vegetables and apple cores are some of her favorite healthy treats. After a fun day, sheâs more than happy to curl up beside you for belly rubs, pets, cuddles, and her favoriteâface squishes. Rose is potty trained, crate trained for sleeping at night, and rides well in the car. She did well living with a securely fenced yard where she could safely burn off energy. Rose would do best in a home without cats, small dogs, or other small animals. She has successfully lived with an older male Pit Bull and a male Catahoula, but she can become overstimulated around other dogs and may redirect or compete for human attention. She does not resource guard food, but she can guard affection from her people. Because of this, Roseâs ideal home is as the only pet, or with experienced owners who are committed to careful management and introductions. Rose also experiences separation anxiety. She is comfortable sleeping in her crate at night, but being crated during the day while left alone can be stressful for her. Medication, along with a consistent routine and behavior plan, can help her feel more comfortable. She would thrive with someone who is home much of the time or can include her in their daily activities. Rose is wonderful with older children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs. Rose isnât looking for a perfect homeâsheâs looking for her person. Someone who will appreciate her goofy personality, nurture her brilliant mind, and return the endless affection sheâs so eager to give. In return, youâll have a devoted best friend who will make every day a little brighter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
