Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Our team often raves about what a sweety Cabo is. A recent foster had this to say: `Cabo is just about the perfect family dog. He's relaxed and gentle. His goal is just to take naps with his people. His house training has been solid so far. He sleeps happily through the night and is ok sleeping in before his first time outside. Inside the house he's really well behaved. He acknowledges the cats but doesn't move to follow them at all. He respectful of my dog. He doesn't beg or counter surf at all. On lead he's already pretty great. He doesn't pull at all. He's easy to guide with very gentle leash movements. He loves to sniff. He loves to read and send pee-mail He's great about being handled. I can pet and move any part of his body. He doesn't complain about opening g his mouth for meds. His front ankles and knees are a little stiff. It might be early arthritis He loves little kids. He met a few between 3-5 at trivia night. He perked up, walked over to them, sat down, and loved getting pets and gentle hugs. When they stopped petting him, he put his head back into their hands. He's the perfect dog for first time owners. He's well mannered, easy to please, and low energy. He's not going to be a hike everywhere dog but that's ok. He's great with kids.` Interested in meeting Cabo? Please visit our adoption center located at 12425 Monterey Rd in San Martin anytime during open hours (12-6pm weekdays, 12-5 pm weekends). Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
