Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Meet Nori Nori is a playful, social little guy with plenty of puppy energy and an enormous enthusiasm for just about everything! He loves interacting with people, wrestling with his siblings, pestering his mom, and hanging around the bigger dogs in his foster home. He’s curious, happy, and seems like the kind of puppy who could adapt beautifully to all sorts of adventures with his future family. Nori does well with other dogs and is comfortable around dogs of different sizes. He loves playing with his siblings and is very interested in the larger resident dogs—even if he can be a little bit of a baby when those big dogs remind him just how small he is! A home with another playful dog could be a great fit for Nori and give him a buddy to help burn off some of that puppy energy. He has also been wonderful with his foster family’s 2-year-old daughter. Nori is gentle with her, allows her to hold him, and has given his foster family no reason to worry about him around children. House training is still a work in progress, as you’d expect from a young puppy, but Nori is already showing some encouraging habits. He does a great job going to the bathroom right away when taken outside and is beginning to show signs of looking for the right place to go when he’s indoors. With a consistent routine and plenty of positive reinforcement, he should continue making progress. Leash walking is another skill Nori is still figuring out. At the moment, he and his siblings are much more interested in chewing on their leashes than walking nicely beside their humans! He’ll need a family who understands that puppy training takes patience, consistency, and a good sense of humor. Nori is used to spending time in a puppy pen and having periods throughout the day when his foster family is out of the house. He’s generally had other dogs nearby during that time, so while he’s accustomed to being without his people, he hasn’t spent much time truly alone. Because he’s still teething and house training, he should continue to be crated or safely confined when unsupervised. This happy boy loves toys of all kinds, including chew toys, fetch toys, and cozy blankets or beds. He also responds well to his regular kibble being used as a training treat. Nori comes when called, although his foster family says he hasn’t quite mastered the skill enough to call it a reliable cue just yet. Nori can be vocal, particularly when he wants attention or when he sees or hears something that startles him. He also joins his siblings in plenty of barking during their puppy play sessions. Nori would thrive with an active family who enjoys a playful, energetic personality and is ready to put time into puppy training. He’d likely love having a canine friend to romp with and people who will give him plenty of interaction and affection. In return, Nori will bring the kind of joyful, silly energy that makes it almost impossible not to smile when he’s around. This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: .sandypawsrescue. PLEASE READ: • If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this. • All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date. • Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: .sandypawsrescue. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
