Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Currently located at our Evansville, IN location Meet Jackalope! Jackalope is an adorable male Terrier born in December 2025 who weighs about 20 pounds. This fun-loving pup is full of personality and is always ready for his next adventure! With his high-energy spirit, Jackalope loves to play, explore, and stay active. He'll thrive with a family that can keep up with his playful nature while continuing to help him learn and grow. Jackalope gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home with older children who can match his energy and respect his space. He can also live with cat-savvy cats that will leave him alone. While he does not show any interest toward cats, he can be intimidated by cats that hiss or swat at him and is happiest with calm feline companions who prefer to do their own thing. Whether he's chasing toys, exploring the backyard, or curling up after a busy day, Jackalope is sure to bring plenty of joy and laughter to his new family. If you're looking for a happy, energetic companion with a big heart, Jackalope may be the perfect match! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
