Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). So one volunteer says simply: `I love, love, love, love this boy...he is so smart.` He loves people, kids (dog-savvy ones best because he is a tall puppy after all), and other dogs. He is a graduate of a two-week training program at Canine Purpose and now has excellent manners: Knows commands for sit, heel, go to his bed, and wait there (until he is released) Walks well on a loose leach Has a strong recall and will be an excellent hiking buddy. ***His adopters will get a free, one-hour training session as part of this program**** He is very treat-motivated and very eager to please No reactivity to lots of little birds and one turkey. He is also a beautiful, beautiful, tall, Siberian Husky mix. Lots of puppy energy (though 3 years old) but very, very trainable. Appears potty trained. He has been on a needed diet and is down to 68 lbs, shooting for 60 lbs. So come and be hypnotized by those stunning blue eyes and excellent manners by making an appointment at yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
