Meet Chico A572460, a 2-year-old, 57-lb gorgeous red Pit Bull Terrier who has been waiting at the shelter since 7/23. This handsome little guy is an absolute lovebug and deserves so much better than a kennel. ?? Chico is super cute, super fun, and absolutely loves his people. Give him affection and cuddles and youâll have one very happy boy! He also LOVES treats and already knows sit and paw. ?? And can we talk about what a dream this boy is to walk?! Chico walks beautifully, potties outside right away, and is incredibly house trained. He even whined at the door when he needed to go back outside to potty! ???? Chico is dog friendly and has participated in playgroup. As always, slow introductions and appropriate decompression are recommended. Honestly, Chico is just wonderful. Heâs affectionate, playful, smart, well-mannered, dog friendly, and SO ready to be someoneâs best friend. ?? CHICO IS URGENT AND NEEDS OUT BY 8/18. ?? Please donât let this sweet boy run out of time. Chico deserves a couch, a family, and a forever home. ???? ? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
