Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Hi, I’m Carmela! I’m a 3-year-old cattle dog mix… mixed with something that apparently forgot to grow legs. I’m about 30 pounds, which makes me the perfect “take me everywhere” size. My foster family keeps calling me “the best dog,” and honestly… I try not to let it go to my head. I’m completely house trained, crate trained, and so trustworthy that I don’t even need the crate when my people are gone. Give me a comfy spot to nap, and I’ll happily hold down the fort until you get home. If you already have a dog, great news—I absolutely adore other dogs! Whether it’s playing, hanging out, or just sharing the couch, I’m happiest with canine friends. I also love people and am always ready to hand out tail wags and sweet smiles. Cats? I’ve been known to chase them and they tend to not like that so probably best I don’t live with them. I’m past the puppy chaos but still young enough to enjoy adventures, walks, and playtime. Mostly, though, I’m just looking for a family to love with my whole heart. If you’re searching for an easy, affectionate, all-around wonderful companion, I think we should meet. I have a feeling I’ve been saving my best years just for you. bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
