Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Hi everybody, my name is Toothpick, pleased to meet you! I’m a 3-month-old, 15-pound, terrier mix girlie. I am great with other dogs and would be a best fit for dog-savvy cats. I live with 2 cats in my foster home and sometimes like to chase them, but I have never been aggressive. I just think they should play with me! I love, love my people, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to get puppy kisses with me around! I also love a good fetch session! Being a puppy, I am still working on the normal puppy stuff like house training and walking on a leash. I do well in my crate, though I do protest for a few minutes sometimes. I am a smart girl and very treat-motivated, so I should learn quickly! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
