Description
Dog Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed. Meet Garrick! Garrick is a handsome 18 month old Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix weighing approximately 50 pounds who is looking for a forever home after he was found as a stray and unfortunately was never reclaimed. Now available for adoption, Garrick is ready to begin his next chapter with a loving family. He is a playful, affectionate boy who enjoys spending time with people and is happiest curled up in your lap soaking up attention. He also has a soft spot for cozy blankets and is always happy to settle in for a good cuddle. Because Garrick is still new to our shelter, we are continuing to learn more about his personality. At this time, we do not know how he will do with other dogs, so a meet and greet would need to take place if you have other dogs in the home prior to adoption. Garrick's adoption fee is $125. He is neutered, microchipped, current on his annual boosters, and heartworm negative. Meet and greets are scheduled with approved online applicants. All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

The Border-Aussie, a captivating hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its intelligence and athleticism. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of its highly trainable parent breeds, the Border-Aussie typically exhibits a medium build with a striking, often bi- or tri-colored coat that can be rough or smooth. Temperamentally, they are incredibly intelligent, energetic, and possess a strong work drive, making them eager to learn and excel in various dog sports. While generally good-natured and loyal, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them best suited for active families or individuals who can provide consistent training and plenty of exercise; they are generally not ideal for apartment living. Potential owners should also be aware of common health concerns inherited from their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions (like Collie Eye Anomaly), and epilepsy.
