Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Delilah is the perfect blend of playful and affectionate. When the house is quiet, she's happy to relax right alongside her people. When it's time for fun, though, her goofy, energetic side comes out, especially if there's another dog ready to play. She loves spending time with her canine friends and has done wonderfully with the resident dog in her foster home. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly and has been especially sweet with the neighborhood kids. Delilah appears to be potty trained and is making herself right at home. She walks well overall but can be strong and excited on leash, so she'll appreciate someone willing to continue working with her as she learns. This sweet girl is looking for a family who will enjoy both her playful spirit and her calm, loving side. They were rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
