If you want to skip straight to the application: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Here’s Your Quick Peek: PLEASE ASK FOR LOLA'S FULL STORY AND NOTE SHE IS NOT READY FOR ADOPTION UNTIL 8/5!! Lola is a frisky, petite Standard Poodle who came from a very loving home. Her previous owner made the difficult decision to surrender her to CPR when health challenges prevented continued care. Lola is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves hugs, kisses, and attention. Must have: A fun, happy home with at least one playful dog and a secure fenced yard. Exercise: Moderate — she loves to run and explore in a fenced yard. Best with: Adults or families who enjoy play and affection. Not ideal for: Homes with very small dogs or other prey‑size critters. Energy level: Medium — gentle, curious, and playful. Lola is obedient, affectionate, and eager to please. She’s great with larger dogs but can be too playfully assertive with small dogs. She’s friendly with new people and loves being part of family life. Good with dogs: Great with larger dogs; not ideal with small dogs. Good with kids: Unknown. Cats: Unknown. Fun fact: Lola will boop you with her nose for hugs and pets — and she loves to rest with all four legs in the air or stretched out straight! Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Overview:
The Standard Poodle is a captivating and highly intelligent breed with a rich history, believed to have originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. Renowned for their distinctive, dense, and curly coat—which is virtually non-shedding, making them a great choice for allergy sufferers—they are elegant and athletic dogs. Physically, they possess a proud carriage, a long muzzle, and dark, expressive eyes, typically weighing between 45-70 pounds. Their temperament is characterized by being highly intelligent, easily trainable, and generally good-natured, though they require mental stimulation to prevent boredom. Standard Poodles are surprisingly adaptable, thriving in active families and even adapting well to apartment living provided they receive adequate exercise and mental engagement. While generally healthy, owners should be aware of potential health concerns like hip dysplasia, bloat, and eye conditions. Their combination of brains, beauty, and biddability makes them a truly versatile and rewarding companion.
