Description
Dog Breed: Boxer (short coat). PUPDATE: A boxer-experienced home nearby is picking him up to foster! We received so many offers to foster, transport, and adopt, and we're incredibly grateful for every single one of you. Because we don't yet know about his health or temperament, placing him in an adult-only home with no other animals is the safest choice while we get him settled, fed, and evaluated. Once we know more, he'll be posted for adoption. For now, you can rest easy knowing this sweet boy is leaving the shelter. Thank you, everyone, for rallying behind a boxer who didn't even have a name this morning. FOSTER & TRANSPORT NEEDED This young boxer has nothing. Not even a name. He's approximately 2 years old, weighs 30 lbs (he should weigh so much more), and was at risk of euthanasia. CH Boxer Rescue tagged him, and now he needs a safe place to recover. Urgent foster needed in Eastern TN, Western NC, or Southern VA. Right now, all this boy needs is a comfy corner to rest, plenty of groceries, and a chance. We'll handle the vet care and learn more about his temperament once he's no longer starving. If you can foster or help transport this weekend, please message us or email AdoptCHBoxerRescue It you want to buy him some snacks, you can donate to his rescue: chelseashopeboxerrescue/donate/

Breed overview
Boxer
A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
