Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $50. I'm estimated to be 2½ years old, weigh 42 pounds, and yes... my coat is looking a little rough around the edges right now. Raising babies is hard work! But once my body has time to recover and I'm getting regular meals, love, and care, I have no doubt my beautiful coat will come back just as lovely as ever. The best thing about me isn't how I look today—it's who I am. I'm a sweet girl who gets along well with other dogs, and I'm ready to trade motherhood for a life filled with belly rubs, soft beds, and being someone's spoiled best friend. Before I go home, I'll be spayed, so I can officially retire from the mom life and focus on the important things... like treats, naps, and being adored. My adoption fee is sponsored and reduced to just $50, and it includes my spay, distemper/parvo vaccine, rabies vaccine, veterinary exam, fecal test for parasites, general dewormer, and microchip. If you think it's time this sweet mama finally got the happily-ever-after she deserves, please call 256-362-5856 to schedule an appointment to meet me. I've spent my life taking care of everyone else. Now I'm hoping someone will choose to take care of me.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
