Meet Iggy Smalls! ❤️ Don’t let his small 17-lb size fool you—this approximately 2-year-old dark red and white Boston Terrier has a personality that’s larger than life! He is currently at our vets office in Riverview, Florida. Sadly, Iggy came to us after spending up to 18 hours a day in a crate. No dog deserves that kind of life, and now all this little guy wants is a soft bed, a kind heart, and a chance to simply be a dog. About Iggy: Approximately 2 years old ✂️ Recently neutered ❤️ Sweet, hilarious, and full of Boston Terrier charm Looking for an immediate foster or PRE-Adopter home. Iggy can be selective with other dogs, so we’re still learning about his social preferences now that he’s neutered. At this time, we’d love to find him a foster willing to give him the time and space he needs to decompress and show us who he truly is. Overview:
The Boston Terrier, affectionately known as the "American Gentleman," originated in the late 19th century in Boston, Massachusetts, making it one of the few breeds developed in the U.S. Physically, they are compact and muscular, typically weighing between 12 and 25 pounds, with a distinctive "tuxedo" coat pattern—black or brindle with white markings on the muzzle, chest, and often a blaze between the eyes. Their expressive, round eyes and erect, bat-like ears are hallmark features. Temperamentally, Boston Terriers are friendly, intelligent, and lively, known for their charming personalities and unwavering loyalty. They adapt well to various living situations, making them excellent companions for both families with children and individuals in apartments, as long as they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation. Regarding health, they are a brachycephalic (short-nosed) breed, so care must be taken in hot weather to prevent overheating, and they can be prone to eye conditions and patellar luxation.
