Dog Breed: Border Collie / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300. Dear Future Family, I’m Broilen and I have a bit of a dilemma. It starts innocently enough. I politely walk right into my kennel like the perfect gentleman. I sleep through the entire night without a peep. I stick close to my humans’ feet because someone has to supervise them, obviously. Then… BAM. They call me a “good boy.” Now I’m completely melted into a puddle because praise is my absolute favorite thing in the whole world. Well… tied with cuddles. And cheese. And peanut butter. And bread. And raspberries. (I’m what the professionals call “food motivated.”) For the record, I’m Broilen , a 6-month-old, male, 20-pound Aussie Shepherd mix. Foster Mom says I’m “short and squatty,” but I prefer “travel-sized athlete.” Speaking of my name… yes, it’s Broilen . Like broiling . As in, “Whew, it’s Broilin’ outside!” Apparently I was named after the weather. Personally, I think it’s fitting because I bring the heat… just in an adorable, wiggly puppy package. I LOVE people. Strangers? Future friends. Dogs? Best friends. Cats? Jury’s still out, I haven’t met one. weird quirks: Sometimes I forget I have a tongue and it’s supposed to go in my mouth. So… mouth is closed but my tongue is creepin! I also have a tiny… very tiny… toe obsession. Look, in my defense, they wiggle. They dangle. They practically introduce themselves. I’m working very hard on remembering that toes are friends, not snacks. Because I’m still learning my puppy manners, I’d probably do best with kids over 6 who understand that I’m trying my best. Another confession: if your house has a couch, a fluffy rug, a dog bed, or literally anything soft… congratulations! It’s mine now. Don’t worry—you can sit with me. I firmly believe every cozy spot is improved by one snuggly puppy. When I’m not testing the softness of your furniture, you’ll probably find me outside rolling dramatically in the grass like it’s the greatest invention of all time. I enjoy walks, adventures, and playtime, but I’m really more of a 5 out of 10 on the energy scale. Think “let’s have fun!” followed immediately by “okay, now let’s cuddle.” I’m about 80% potty trained , and every day I’m getting better. Since treats are basically my love language, I’m learning fast. Did I mention I walk right into my kennel? I like to think of it as having excellent room service. So here’s my question: How do I find a family that doesn’t mind sharing their soft furniture, appreciates the occasional puppy toe investigation, enjoys the look of my tongue, laughs at my goofy personality, and has plenty of snacks and “good boys” to hand out?
