Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. Lilly is a beautiful 2-year-old Yorkie who came to Yorkie Rescue Houston with her companion, Jumper, after their elderly owners could no longer provide the care they needed. This was a difficult but loving decision made with their future in mind. We carefully separated Lilly and Jumper to evaluate how they handled being apart and confirmed that they are not bonded. They are both comfortable independently and can be adopted into separate homes. Lilly is friendly, outgoing, and comfortable around other dogs. She has adjusted well to life in a pack and enjoys being part of the action. She would make a wonderful companion for a loving family ready to give her the happy, secure future she deserves.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
