Dog Breed: Dogo Argentino (medium coat). Meet Odin—a 4-year-old, 100-pound Dogo Argentino with movie-star looks, a giant heart, and absolutely no concept of personal space! This big, beautiful boy is convinced he's lap-dog sized. Crouch down to say hello, and don't be surprised if all 100 pounds of Odin enthusiastically accept your invitation. His motto seems to be, `The closer, the better!` Odin already knows a few tricks, but it's safe to say he may have skipped a few manners classes along the way. He's eager for human affection and loves being with his people, but he'll benefit from an adopter who can continue teaching him that good manners are just as important as good looks. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and clear boundaries, this lovable goofball has all the potential to become an exceptional companion. Because of his size, strength, and breed characteristics, Odin is looking for an experienced handler—ideally someone familiar with Dogo Argentinos or other powerful working breeds. He'll thrive with a confident owner who can provide structure, training, and plenty of opportunities to use both his body and brain. If you've got room in your home (and on your couch...whether you planned to or not), Odin is ready to fill your life with laughter, loyalty, and oversized hugs. To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. The Argentinian Mastiff, more commonly known as the Dogo Argentino, is a powerful and noble breed originating from Argentina in the 1920s, specifically developed for big-game hunting. These impressive dogs boast a striking appearance with their signature pure white coat, muscular build, and a strong, intelligent gaze. Temperament-wise, a well-socialized Dogo is often described as loyal, courageous, and protective of their family. While they can be affectionate and gentle with their loved ones, their protective instincts and high energy levels mean they are generally not suitable for apartment living and thrive in homes with ample space and an active lifestyle. They require consistent training and early socialization to ensure they are well-behaved around strangers and other animals. Regarding health, they are prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and skin allergies, and due to their white coat, they have a higher incidence of deafness.
