Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Sweet, Petite Benita! If you’re looking for a lovable companion in a perfectly sized package, Benita is your gal! At about 6 years old and just 27.4 pounds, this handsome pup is the ideal size for cuddling, adventures, and everything in between. Benita, a terrier mix, is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, and her 4DX (Flex 4) test was negative, so she’s ready to find her forever family. Benita gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children. When introduced to a cat at the vet, she showed no signs of reactivity, making her a promising candidate for a home with feline friends as well. Benita will be arriving in New Jersey on August 9, and she’ll be ready to start the next chapter of her life with a loving family. With her sweet personality, great manners, and compact size, Benita is sure to steal hearts wherever she goes. We have a feeling she won’t be available for long, so don’t wait! Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
