This lively flock of hound mix puppies is ready to take flight into their forever homes! Born to their sweet mama Birdy, these babies carry her gentle nature, curious spirit, and love of adventure. At just the right age for bonding, training, and exploring, they’re playful, people friendly, and full of personality. Whether they’re trotting after you like a little parade, practicing their “hound harmonies,” or snuggling in for a nap after playtime, each puppy brings their own charm to the nest. They’re social, smart, and eager to learn — perfect companions for families who love outdoor adventures, cozy evenings, and a whole lot of puppy joy. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other out of state adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meet and greets are available on the appointment request.

Overview:
The Bluetick Coonhound is a striking American breed, recognized for its distinctive deep blue, mottled coat and powerful build. Originating in the Southern United States from the French Grand Bleu de Gascogne hound, they were selectively bred for their exceptional tracking abilities, particularly for raccoons. Physically, they are strong, muscular dogs with long, droopy ears, a high-set tail, and an expressive gaze. Temperamentally, Blueticks are intelligent, friendly, and outgoing, possessing a strong prey drive and an endearing, almost mournful, baying bark. While generally good with children and other pets when properly socialized, their high energy levels and vocal nature make them less suitable for apartment living; a home with a secure, fenced yard is ideal. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as bloat, emphasizing the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
