Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. If a big, sweet pup is for you, take our Chevy for a spin! Chevy is a friend to everyone he meets. He takes on the role of official greeter no matter where he is. He greets people big and small as well as other dogs. Chevy is a terrier mix and at 6 months old is already 40 lbs. Growing is in his future, and he is expected to be a large-size dog of anywhere over 60 pounds when full grown. Chevy was found as a stray and is ready to find his forever family. We do know that he loves other dogs, children and adults but we do not know how he would be in relation to a cat. He loves to play, go for a walk, or cuddle on the couch. As a young dog, he is learning and practicing walking well on a leash and working on house and crate trained. It will be important for his new people to continue his training, and appreciate that he is a curious youngster discovering the world around him Like with all rescue dogs, he requires time to adjust to a new environment, and patience as he perfects his manners. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
