Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). I am a sensitive, sweet boy. The shelter environment was too overstimulating and made me fearful. A wonderful Foster Care Volunteer welcomed me into their home and that helped me warm up and come out of my shell. My foster mom says I am a delight to have in the home. Iâm quiet, attuned to my people, and eager to please. She understands that new situations make me anxious, but we are both very proud of my adaptability. I settle right in when I know Iâm safe and will play with my stuffies, snuggle right up next to you, fetch a ball, and do hoppity hops for mealtime. I like my name because I am âlow keyâ and good natured. I quickly made friends with the fosterâs medium-sized puppy. The puppy pulls on my legs and ears, but I know sheâs young and smaller than me and I gently play back. When Iâm not playing tug or keep away with the puppy, I love walks, snuggling, cooling off in my wading pool and napping. I enjoy the outdoors and have been exploring everywhere I can. I know I will be a little shy when I first meet you and it will take some time for me to settle into my forever home. But it wonât be long, and Iâll be the best friend you hoped for. Please call 970. 226. 3647 ext 0 to learn more about me and to set up a meet and greet. :)

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
