Description
Dog Breed: Newfoundland Dog / Mixed. Hi, I'm Letty! I’m a 3-year-old Newfie girl with a heart every bit as big as I am! Life threw me a bit of a curveball recently when my former situation changed unexpectedly, but I haven't let that dim my sweet, loving spirit one bit. Shelter staff describe me as an absolute doll, and honestly, I just adore people! I might be a majestic, fluffy giant, but in my head, I am 100% a lap dog. My absolute favorite thing to do is lean right against your legs so you know I’m right there with you. I keep my kennel squeaky clean (so I appear to be house-trained!), and so far, I’ve been super dog-friendly. The team here will be doing formal introductions with other pups and testing how I feel about feline friends soon! I’m spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. If you’re looking for a stunning, big-hearted companion who will shower you with devotion, I'm ready to lean right into your heart.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
