Description
Dog Breed: Hound. Hi, I’m Suki! I’m a 1-year-old, 21-pound Hound Mix with a big heart and a sensitive little soul. I'll be honest—I can be a bit of a chicken when we first meet! New things can feel a little overwhelming at first. But give me a minute (and maybe a tasty treat or two ), and I’ll transform into the ultimate, full-blown lap dog! I absolutely love people and other dogs once I feel safe, and I’m super treat-driven, which makes learning new things and building my confidence a total breeze. I’m a funny little explorer with a few hilarious quirks: Things I love: Going on walks, being in the car , and lounging with my favorite humans! Things I’m not a fan of: Getting into the car and watching other cars zoom by (I promise I like the ride once I'm actually inside!). Things I don't know what to do with yet: Bikes and squirrels ! They're total mysteries to me. I’m already spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on my shots! If you have a cozy couch, a patient heart, and a pocket full of snacks, I promise to shower you with a lifetime of gentle tail wags and endless snuggles.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
