Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT Meet Lilly! More pictures and video below or to come! youtu.be/cS0rgLzn8Zk Lilly is 3 years old, female (approx. DOB tbd), 43 lbs., vetted, and is or will be spayed. Lilly has been a mama; we love our mama dogs! She and her babies were found homeless and abandoned in SC. Lilly is BEAUTIFUL! Her brilliant, stunning, bright brown eyes reflect her beautiful personality! This sweet, affectionate girl is happiest when she’s right by your side soaking up attention. Lilly may greet you with lots of excitement and enthusiasm, but once she settles down, her gentle, snuggly personality shines through. She loves affection, sweet talk, and tasty treats, and her curious nature makes every walk an adventure. Smart, patient, and full of love, Lilly enjoys exploring, sniffing around, and occasionally chasing you for fun. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will shower you with kisses and affection, Lilly is your girl! Fun fact: Lilly did great with a 5-month-old and a toddler, plus anyone they met out on the trails. She is very friendly, a little nervous to get in the car (who can blame her), but settles once in the car! If you are interested in adopting Lilly, please fill out an Application at .Passion-4-Paws (please make sure you have the Vermont site, not CT) - thanks! Please note that fosters have 1st option for adoption. Check out her Facebook Profile and like us while you are there! Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
